Element Nine Systems is the customer-facing brand of Yukonhaus Buildtech LLP, a construction and building-science company focused on climate-responsive, energy-efficient homes for Kashmir.
“How do Canadian homes stay warm inside when it is −20 °C outside?”
Junaid and Umeed completed their postgraduate engineering degrees in Canada and worked there. In a climate harder than Kashmir’s, they saw homes stay at room temperature all winter long. It wasn’t luck or expensive fuel. It was building science: continuous insulation, airtight construction, controlled ventilation and efficient heating, designed together.
They came home knowing what they wanted to change. Too many Kashmiri homes are built for how they look on the day they are finished, then heated through Chillai Kalan with whatever is at hand. Element Nine Systems was founded to bring the same thinking to Kashmir, adapted to local materials, local trades and local budgets.
The name
Element 9 is fluorine. It always reacts.
Fluorine is the most reactive, most electronegative element there is: its outer shell is one electron short of full, so it reacts with almost everything it meets.
We chose the name to be easy to remember, and to say that we intend to react against the way Kashmir builds today.

The mark
An E and a 9 that make one house.
Our monogram began as a sketch by the founders. The E’s roof rises to the ridge, the 9’s falls away, and their floors line up, because our systems work together.
